The Dallas Bach Society, 2011-2012,"The Bach Dynasty"
Among the great musical dynasties, the Bach family is surely the most prominent. Johann Sebastian occupies the very pinnacle of classical music, but two of his sons were even more prominent in their day. John Christian (Johann Christian) was the toast of London, and very much admired by the young Mozart. Carl Philipp Emanuel worked at the court of Frederic the Great, where Sebastian Bach sent his Musical Offering in hopes of preferment, and later became General Music Director of the city of Hamburg, succeeding Telemann, who was chosen over Sebastian Bach.
