Bach & the Gamba

Saturday, February 8, 2020

This concert is a particularly special evening! Three amazing gambists – Brent Wissick, Stephanie Raby, and Christopher Phillpott, with lute and harpsichord continuo, in collaboration with the Dallas Institute for the Humanities and Culture – at their amazing Cour Regard venue, a beautiful space established by long time DBS supporter Betty Regard. Your tickets include “DBS Goes to the Movies – Tout les matins du monde, with Gerard Depardieu” at the Institute the week before the concert, moderated by the DIHC’s Dr. Scott Churchill and DBS Artistic Director James Richman. The movie is a fabulous depiction of the musical life in the period, especially gamba music and the mysterious Sieur de Sainte-Colombe, who was a very important composer and performer, and whose daughters all played the gamba and formed what must have been the first gamba “girl group” in history, “Les Filles de Sainte-Colombe”.

Bach & the Flute

Saturday, October 3, 2020

6:00pm Libations, 7:30pm Concert

A natural combination! Tamara Meredith, flauto traverso, plays Bach as well as other amazing solo repertoire. This event begins with a home tour of the Historic Aldredge House, followed by the concert.

James Richman, harpsichord, plays a Bach French Suite and works of Jean-Philippe Rameau, arguably the greatest of the French Baroque composers.
