James Richman, Harpsichord

Saturday, November 1, 2025 ~ Aldredge House

Artistic Director and conductor of the Dallas Bach Society, James is a prominent harpsichordist and fortepianist as well as one of today’s leading conductors of Baroque music and opera. He studied
conducting with Max Rudolf and Herbert Blomstedt, piano with Mieczyslaw Horszowski and Rosina Lhevinne, harpsichord with Albert Fuller and Kenneth Gilbert, and received his B.A. in the History of Science at Harvard magna cum laude. In 1995 he was made a Chevalier in the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government in recognition of his contributions to the art of music. He is a prizewinner in four international competitions for early keyboard instruments.


This recital celebrates the recording he made for Rubicon Classics of the complete harpsichord works of Jean-Philippe Rameau.​

Sydney ZumMallen, Cello & Gamba

Saturday, January 25, 2026 ~ Aldredge House

Sydney ZumMallen, Baroque Cello and Viola da gamba, plays with numerous ensembles including Harmonia Stellarum, La Follia (Austin), Ars Lyrica, Philharmonie Austin, 7th Street Concerts, Tactus, Science Ficta, in addition to regular appearances with DBS. Her international tours with the likes of Juilliard415, Paul Leenhouts / Fantasmi, and Fabio Bonizzoni have taken
her across four continents including Italy, Austria, Germany, Czechia, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Puerto Rico, Peru, Colombia, Taiwan, and New Zealand. Her studies include an undergraduate degree at the University of North Texas, a year of studies at The Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and a master’s degree from The Juilliard School, where she was a recipient of the Historical Performance Scholarship. During her years at The Juilliard School she was the winner of Juilliard’s inaugural baroque cello concerto competition, making her New York solo debut with Juilliard415 at Alice Tully Hall in New York. She is currently Professor of Baroque cello and viola da gamba, the Coordinator of Early Music Chamber Studies, and instructor in the Ornamentation Theory course at the University of North Texas.

Taylor Fenner - Soprano

Sunday, April 28, 2026 ~ Aldredge House

Ms. Fenner will sing arias and solo cantatas by Bach, Scarlatti, Handel, Vivaldi and Clerambault, accompanied by James Richam on the harpsichord. 

​

An exciting young soprano soloist known locally for her work with Dallas Bach and the Orpheus Chamber Singers, Taylor has appeared as soloist in numberous DBS concerts in recent years, including Bach's Magnificat, Easter Oratorio, Mass in B Minor, Cantata 140: Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, and Vivaldi's Gloria. 

​

On the operatic state, Taylor has recently performed La Fée (Cendrillon), Yvette/Georgette (La Rondine), Sherry (That Hell-bound Train), the title role in Handel’s Alcina in Poland, Ida (Die Fledermaus) in Berlin, as well as Micaëla (Carmen), and Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro) with the UNT Opera.


A native of Brookings, South Dakota, Taylor received the Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and a second Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Augustana
University, and then her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of North Texas.
