Alto vs. Countertenor

Rescheduled! Saturday, February 27, 2021 ~ Aldredge House

Livestream Begins at 7:00pm

There is always a controversy about who sings the alto solo line – is it a countertenor, or a female alto or contralto? Hear for yourself, as two of our favorite singers, Dianna Grabowski and Daniel Bubeck, duel it out in a charming singing competition, along with some fabulous duets from the Baroque period.  James Richman accompanies on the harpsichord.

« Les caractères de la danse »

with the New York Baroque Dance Company

Saturday, March 20, 2021 ~ 7:30pm

Zion Lutheran Church Gymnasium

In 1715 the amazing Françoise Prévost, the first female choreographer (in addition to being a star dancer of the first order) created this astonishing solo for herself. Before long, it was also set by other leading ballerinas as a solo or duet. Artistic Director Catherine Turocy creates a brilliant evening of dance starting with these historical works and leading to further expression of character dancing.
